Welcome to the 414th episode of TigerTalk, the award-winning show from Northeast Mississippi Community College — proudly recognized as Mississippi’s longest-running community college podcast.
On this week on Tiger Talk, Northeast Mississippi Community College President Dr. Ricky Ford joins Marketing and Community Relations Specialist to explore the experiences that help students thrive at Northeast. From small classes and diverse academic pathways to campus involvement, faculty mentorship and community connections, Ford discusses how Northeast helps students pursue their goals -- whether entering the workforce or transferring to a four-year institution. Ford also spotlights the Northeast Student Success Center and its mission to build, support and empower students through academic advising, success coaching, counseling, tutoring and disability accommodations. The discussion shares how the center’s support has contributed to gains in student success, retention and GPA, while providing freshmen with a consistent advocate during their transition to college. The episode includes updates on the Tiger Den’s new interview closet, which offers professional attire to help students prepare for employment opportunities; expanded recreation through new pickleball court lines; and upcoming law-enforcement training offered through the Public Safety Training Center. Listeners will also hear about volunteer opportunities with first-semester nursing students, open employment positions, a substantial gift from Corinth Elks Lodge No. 2573 to the Northeast FFA Alumni and Supporters Chapter, upcoming Tiger Athletics events, and the dedication of the renovated Alumni Pavilion at Tiger Stadium in honor of Dr. William “Bill” Jackson. Ford closes by celebrating Northeast’s enrollment growth, welcoming new and returning students, and recognizing the faculty and staff whose work strengthens the college community each day.
